Sept 18, 2003

Our view:

  • Debt Markets: Volatility rears its head…
Debt markets have witnessed excessive volatility over more than two weeks now. This has left income fund investors getting jittery after seeing a consistent fall in NAVs. Debt fund investors aren’t used to seeing a fall in a ‘safe investment’ like an income fund, so such a development leaves them very nervous.

Interest rates have moved up, and consequently, NAVs of debt mutual funds have witnessed a sharp downward correction. But is this the time to exit debt funds? Do debt funds still make investment sense? Our special newsletter answers these and many other related questions.
