HDFC Mid-Cap Opportunities Fund is a mid cap biased fund from HDFC Mutual Fund.

HDFC Mid-Cap Opportunities Fund has outperformed its benchmark and the category average across longer timeframes. Despite being a midcap fund, HDFC Mid-Cap Opportunities Fund has been impressive when it comes to managing volatility and curtailing down-side risks. 

Being the largest mid cap fund by AUM, HDFC Mid-Cap Opportunities Fund holds a well-diversified portfolio of around 65-80 comprising of fundamentally sound growth oriented companies in the mid and high mid cap segment. The fund resists from following market momentum and holds stocks in which it has conviction, for the long term. Moreover, it belongs to a fund house, which is known to follow strong investment processes and systems.

HDFC Mid-Cap Opportunities Fund is mandated to invest at least 75% of its assets in equities and upto 25% in debt and money market instruments (including securitised debt upto 25%). While it needs to maintain a minimum exposure of at least 75% in midcaps, the maximum proportion of assets that can be held in smallcaps is earmarked at 15%. The non-midcap exposure can go up to 25%.

HDFC Mid-Cap Opportunities Fund follows bottom up approach of stock picking wherein the stocks are bought primarily for the strengths of company fundamentals rather than the strength of the macro-economic indicators. It holds a well-diversified equity portfolio and prefers to stay invested in each of its holdings with a long term view.
