What Are the Objectives of the Seva Sindhu Portal?

  • The primary goal of the Seva Sindhu Platform is to offer diverse financial and societal advantages to the residents of Karnataka;

  • The program enhances the quality of life for the recipients and empowers them to achieve self-reliance;

  • Beneficiaries are not obligated to visit government offices to apply for these schemes personally. They can conveniently complete the process from their homes;

  • If beneficiaries are not comfortable with online applications, they also have the option to apply through offline methods.

What Are the Schemes Introduced Under the Seva Sindhu Facility?

The Karnataka Government has introduced 5 major schemes under Seva Sindhu:

1. Gruha Jyoti Scheme:

The State Government of Karnataka has introduced the Gruha Jyothi Scheme, offering free electricity subsidies to all residents, including both; property owners and renters. Through this initiative, the recipient stands to save approximately Rs 1,000 every month. The Government's monthly expenditure for executing this plan will amount to roughly 1200 crore. The scheme has attracted registration from around 55,000 consumers spanning various regions. Those eligible can submit applications for the scheme via the Seva Sindhu Portal. This program is accessible to individuals from all castes, ensuring inclusivity and access to its benefits. Those who meet the eligibility criteria can register for this subsidy through the Seva Sindhu portal.

Gruha Jyoti Scheme Eligibility Criteria:

The free electricity program in Karnataka applies to residential electricity consumers, limited to one meter per household and consumption not exceeding 200 units. This scheme exclusively targets residential households and excludes commercial establishments. To be eligible for the scheme, customers need to connect their customer ID or account ID with their Aadhaar card and settle any outstanding dues.

2. Gruha Lakshmi Scheme:

To enhance the societal position of women, the Government initiates a range of programs. The Karnataka administration has recently introduced a similar initiative termed the Karnataka Gruha Lakshmi Scheme. This scheme entails extending financial aid of up to Rs 2,000 to women residing in the state. Roughly 2 lakh women within the state will have the opportunity to avail themselves of this program. Eligibility for this scheme is limited to women falling under the Below-poverty Line category.

Gruha Lakshmi Scheme Eligibility Criteria:

The Gruha Lakshmi Scheme 2023 is accessible to women who are the primary earners within their families and fall within the Low-income Group category.

3. Anna Bhagya Scheme:

The Anna Bhagya Scheme constitutes one of the five initiatives introduced through the Seva Sindhu Platform. Within this scheme, individuals under the Below-poverty Line segment will receive a monthly allocation of 10 kg of rice at no cost. This program guarantees food stability for all, freeing beneficiaries from dependency on external sources for rations, as the Karnataka Government will supply them with complimentary provisions. As a result, this scheme aims to enhance the quality of life for its beneficiaries.

Anna Bhagya Scheme Eligibility Criteria:

The residents of Karnataka between the ages 18 to 60 with a Below Poverty Line (BPL) and Antyodaya ration cards are eligible to apply for the scheme.

4. Yuva Nidhi Scheme:

Many educated young adults across the nation remain unemployed. To address this, the Karnataka Government has introduced the Karnataka Yuva Nidhi Scheme. This initiative offers financial aid ranging from Rs 1,500 to Rs 3,000 over a two-year period, aimed at supporting the daily necessities of unemployed young residents. With this program in place, beneficiaries no longer need to rely on external sources for their financial needs, as the Karnataka Government will supply them with the necessary funds. This scheme is expected to enhance the quality of life for beneficiaries and promote self-sufficiency among them.

Yuva Nidhi Scheme Eligibility Criteria:

Residents of Karnataka who have completed their degree or diploma in the academic year 2022-23 and who have not received employment after 6 months of completion of their degree or diploma are eligible for the Yuva Nidhi Scheme benefit.

5. Karnataka Shakti Scheme:

The Karnataka Shakti Scheme enables women within the state to avail themselves of free bus transportation services. Now, women residents no longer need to pay bus fares when travelling between states, as the Government will cover these expenses. The Government has effectively rolled out this scheme across the entire state, fulfilling its commitment. The implementation of this scheme will furnish women in the state with transportation advantages, leading to an enhancement in their quality of life.

Karnataka Shakti Scheme Eligibility Criteria:

Women residents of Karnataka state holding Shakti Smart Card can be benefited from free travel by bus.
